Audience for the Wiki

The original target audience for the site was library staff who conduct health information outreach to native people. That has been broadened to include anyone who is working in native health care and health promotion.

Desired Outcomes of Wiki Promotion

  1. Awareness of the site
  2. Participation in the site by contributing

Promotional Materials

General notes: all publicity items must contain wording about contractual support provided by NLM (e.g., ”This project has been funded in whole or in part with Federal funds from the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and Human Services under Contract No. NO1-LM-6-3504.”) Also, materials should be created using some software application that is commonly-enough used that eventual updating could be done at sites that have access to fairly standard office packages. We have approximately $600 to spend on promotion before 12/31/08.

1. Announcements
Committee members Barbara Nail-Chiwetalu and Claire Hamasu have created two different announcements for distribution by email. The first is a general announcement of the wiki’s availability and the second is an invitation to participate.

2. Bookmark
This is for awareness-raising, to inform people about the wiki and motivate them to visit it. It is intended for  distribution at relevant meetings and exhibits.  A limited supply has been produced and is available upon request from Barbara Nail-Chiwetalu (BNail-Chiwetalu@salud.unm.edu, 505-272-0757), Distance Services Coordinator, at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Library.  It is also available here as a pdf for those who wish to print it and use it. It is sized to fit four to a standard 8 ½ by 11 inch page, landscape,  double-sided.  To print the bookmark you may need to adjust your printer settings.  Some (many?) printers seem to shift the image approx 1/8 in to the left, even though the pdf is centered on the screen and in its native MS Publisher file. This causes misalignment of the front and back sides of the bookmark sheet. You can use the printer settings to shift the image .06 in to the left and then the images are aligned. Also, choose your
printers' options to flip or bind on the short edge so that the images will be right-side-up on both sides.

3. Flyer
This 8 ½ by 11 inch sheet is also intended for awareness raising and for distribution at relevant meetings and exhibits. It is here as a pdf.

4. Poster
This will also serve to raise awareness and motivate participation. It is intended for display at meetings and is available for Steering Committee members to take with them to relevant events that they attend. The Publicity/Evaluation subcommittee will identify possible venues for this poster, and will time proposal submission and production according to meeting deadlines. Here is the poster ppt. There are two printed versions of the poster. The poster in a tube can be requested from Barbara Nail-Chiwetalu (BNail-Chiwetalu@salud.unm.edu, 505-272-0757), Distance Services Coordinator at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Library. The folding cloth version can be requested from Jeanette Ryan (jlr@ahsl.arizona.edu, 520-626-6143), Deputy Director, Arizona Health Sciences Library.
